Have a policy, guidance document, and/or goal encouraging students and employees to use less paper

Have a policy to turn off lights after leaving a room or use occupancy sensors

Ask or require employees to plan routes to reduce driving time and fuel usage

Include articles and newsletters about ways that families can be green at home

Close blinds and curtains after hours to keep solar heat out on hot days

Have dimmers or make use of natural lighting instead of full lighting

Commit to at least three new metrics for school achieve over the next three years

Monitor classrooms to see if lights have been left on when not in use

Have a compost program

Install “These Come From Trees” stickers on paper towel holders to encourage students and staff to use less paper towels

Perform a water waste walkthrough on a scheduled basis

Have regular communication or training with the employees that collect recycling
