Asking employees to adopt sustainable behaviors involves creating a culture of openness and inclusion, where employees take the initiative to adopt behaviors and are comfortable pointing out areas where the sustainability program can be improved. One way these behaviors can be reinforced is through monetary, recognition, or achievement-based incentives.
Examples:
One incentive is to put aside an ongoing "prize" to award employees for creative ways to recycle, limit water and plastic use, etc. That prize could be monetary compensation, a special lunch with senior executives, or an extra day off.
