SOCIETY OF THE TRANSFIGURATION
The Society of the Transfiguration is a religious order in the Episcopal tradition, founded in 1898 in Cincinnati, Ohio by Mother Eva Mary Matthews and Sister Beatrice Martha Henderson. Their current work in the world includes Bethany School, the Transfiguration Spirituality Center, St. Monica’s Recreation Center, Food for the Soul, and Transfiguration North Carolina.

Why they're 513 Green?
The Society of the Transfiguration leads robust sustainability efforts across their ministries at their Glendale campus. At the Bethany School and the Transfiguration Spirituality Center, composting programs minimize food waste while educating both students and guests. They harness renewable energy through geothermal systems and solar panels, reducing their carbon footprint. Additionally, their Food for the Soul program rescues surplus food to provide for those in need, while their upcycling initiatives creatively repurpose materials to minimize waste. These efforts reflect the Society's deep commitment to environmental stewardship, aligning with their mission to care for both people and the planet.
